Basic Testing Overview.

I am going to start this blog from today and i really don't have any plan so just scribbling ..

Testing is an activity where you will test a software or hardware ( Dependent on different domains). Actually you will match the requirement with the actual working of a device.

I love examples so let's take some examples:

You want to test a calculator Software. So very basic testing requirements will be like this

Requirement:

1. Should be able to add two digits

2. Should be able to subtract two digits

Testing will start from the beginning. So as soon as you get the requirement. Go and start reviewing the requirement, Raise your doubts/ask questions from clients , write test cases , review test cases and then execute them when you get the build for AUT ( application under test ) .

So let's Discuss one by one the various things that i have written above( It looks easy but it is not !!! )

1. Start Reviewing the requirements:

This is the single most important part of the SDLC ( software development Life Cycle)

You will review the requirements and understand the client requirements properly.

2. Raise your doubts:

Now this is the time when you ask all the questions you want to from the client. In this case i have a lot of questions..

1. Only two digits ?

2. Only subtract /Addition nothing else ? ( it is very much clear in requirement but yet it is better to ask )

3. What about negative numbers?

4. what will happen if i do this 1-9 =? Error of -8

So many these type of questions you want to ask ...... as per your understanding
